Mid-America Tire Dealers Association Scholarship Application

The Board of Directors for the Mid America Tire Dealers Association has established a scholarship program to help promote career opportunities in the automotive industry for Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma students. Each year the Board of Directors will award a minimum of three scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. Scholarships will be awarded to students planning to attend a college, university, tech school, or tech college (if appropriate applications are received).


The requirements for the scholarship program are as follows:

  1. The student must be sponsored by a current member or employee of a member of the MATDA
  2. The student must be a high school senior, have graduated high school or received the equivalent of a high school diploma
  3. The student must be a U.S. citizen
  4. Existing MATDA recipients may continue to apply for three years if they maintain at least the minimum graduating GPA for the school they are attending (Not to be below a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.)


The Scholarship awards will be based on a combination of the following criteria:

  1. Evidence of scholastic potential and achievement
  2. School, business, and community activities
  3. How the student intends to use the scholarship funds to offset the costs of their education
  4. A personal statement about the student’s career goals
  5. The award will be made without regard to financial need
  6. Selection will be made by the MATDA Board of Directors
  7. The award is given without regard to race, age, gender, or religion


The Board of Directors will announce the winners of the MATDA Scholarships at the Annual Convention and Trade Show. Scholarship winners will be awarded the scholarship funds when the association office has received proof of enrollment in secondary education. Scholarships are for the Fall of the following school year and checks will be made payable to school and/or recipients.
